The interview process felt disorganized and misaligned with the role's scope. The interview process stretched over 1.5 months for a 3 month contract position. After completing a final round they replied saying they would get back to me, but despite sending follow-up emails on two occasions throughout the process, I received no further response and was ghosted. Very disappointed in a company whose work seems genuinely interesting!
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Nomic Bio (Montreal, QC) in Jan 2025
Interview
1) HR (30 min) 2) Team Lead (45 min) 3) Conduct Experiment + Group Interview (2-3 hours) 4) Senior leader... Long, with a wait time of around 1.5 weeks per round. The 3rd round is interesting- you can tell the culture of overwork...Apparently, they have a morning shift and a night shift, which sounds inhumane to me. When I was there, staff seemed to be burned out. They failed you without giving any specific feedback. Operation = doing experiment only without critical thinking.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Salary expectation (their budget is 50-55K, quite low). How much do you know about their platform technology. Walk them through their technology. Why want to work there? Nothing extraordinary...
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Nomic Bio in Dec 2024
Interview
The interview process was great, take-home was challenging and interesting, and well reflected the apps and job requirements for the role. The paired programming requirement was engaging and fun. I applied and was given an offer within a few weeks, and the interviewers were contentious and accommodating of my timeline for competing offer. I ultimately accepted the offer and have started work and am enjoying the new challenges!
