National Health Practitioner Ombudsman interview questions

The process was not professional AT ALL. Went for an in person interview - was not successful. However, days ago I was told the preferred candidate accepted another role and I was the next best candidate. A request for my referees to be conducted. They were completed and less than 2 days later I am told that the recruitment process changed and they are no longer proceeding with my onboarding. Why waste Referees time and not provide any reasonable or sufficient reason??? Disappointed and won't consider applying for any role again.
