Horrible waste of time. I went all the way to third round of interviews, spent a lot of time talking with the company, and it turned out they didn’t even have the contract with the end client signed. Essentially they were looking to staff for a role they COULD have had, if their end client signed the statement of work. I didn’t find this out until the very end of the interview with the topmost decision maker. They even wanted to put me on to a forth round of interview with someone claiming to be VP. I refused and said “ get that statement of work signed , then we can talk” it amazes me that companies get away with this, essentially robbing me, and other engineers, of valuable time, which makes the market much less effective at matching people with real opportunities because of misinformation. Companies should only be able to interview people if they legitimately have a role allocated. Companies shouldn’t be able to interview people for positions they COULD have. Applicants beware.
