      Seasonal Sales Associate Interview

      4 Oct 2011
      Anonymous employee
      Puyallup, WA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Macy's (Puyallup, WA) in Oct 2011

      Interview

I saw that there was a seasonal sales associate position open for Macy's at snagajob.com so I applied immediately. It took a couple hours or so to finish the application because I took a while on the 12 page questionnaire but over all it was pretty easy. The next day I got an e - mail saying they wanted to invite me to an interview and then I got directed to a page that had a calendar and all the days and times available for an interview. There were about five days open and lots of time slots. I really suggest to interview as soon as possible and not schedule it later just because your nervous its really better to get it over quick because you never know if the person just before you got the job because you were too late. I scheduled mine for a Tuesday at 11 a.m. and got there about ten minutes early. I was greeted by a friendly woman who gave me a form to fill out with my name, phone number, and then it told me to fill out times I would be available Monday through Sunday and I was only allowed to put a minimum of four hours. I just put random times because I intended to tell my interviewer that I was available anytime they needed me. After I gave her the form I waited a couple minutes and then was called in. During this time almost everyone who was walking by greeted me with a smile and a hello which was very surprising to me because from the reviews I read I was expecting the human resources office to be extremely busy and that I would have to wait a long time before I got called in but it was the exact opposite of my expectations. The lady who interviewed me was extremely nice and easy going she led me to a small room in the back with two computers and we sat down across from each other it was very relaxed. She started off asking about my previous work experience and then began reading off questions from a paper and wrote down my answers. The interview itself lasted about 15 minutes with a series of about 7 questions. It was very easy and at the end she said they would love to have me working there and that she has a couple positions open we could look at. After we went back to the main room where I sat and waited a minute or so and then she came back over and offered me a flex on call part time position at $8.67 an hour and I excepted. She said I would even be able to make my own schedule from a computer that would show me shifts available and I would basically get to pick what shifts I want. I filled out another form giving my name, social security number, date of birth, address and some other stuff. When I was done she said to come back the next day at 11 for training. There are a couple tips someone should follow if you are going to interview at Macy's. First of all make sure to wear black. Black pants, black shoes, and also a black shirt is preferable but white will also be fine although everyone I saw in the office was wearing black or dark clothes. Make sure your answers are a couple minutes long and that they are thought out a little although honestly I didn't prepare that much for the interview but I had a good idea of what the questions would be thanks to Glassdoor. Over all I was extremely surprised and pleased at the interview process and I look forward to working at Macy's.
