I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Little Island in Jan 2025
Interview
It was a little intimidating. Some questions asked were more take-home and come-back-with-a-plan-type scenarios, but they were still asked in the moment. The team members interviewing me were a mix of hot and cold.

Question 1
Are you familiar with how to negotiate with all the different unions?
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Little Island (New York, NY) in Nov 2022
Interview
I was selected for 2 interviews. The first interview was over the phone, with an administrator who was not involved in the Horticulture side of the organization. She asked specific questions about garden maintenance, writing down my answers to share with the others involved in the process.
Second interview was done while walking around the island, with the Lead Horticulturist and another administrator. Questions were about experience and interest in the position. Seemed like they wanted to see you engage with and ask questions about the landscape on the island.

Question 1
What tasks do you complete in a perennial garden during each of the 4 seasons?
It's a fairly straightforward process with the initial conversation being with the HR person, then following rounds with the appropriate hiring managers. Everyone was polite, civil, and professional. Enjoyed connecting and talking to everyone I met during the process
