      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Kaiser Permanente (Pleasanton, CA) in Apr 2017

      Interview

The manager and I spoke about my past work and school experience. I mentioned the skills I have on my resume. I also printed the job description and highlighted certain things I wanted to talk about during the interview. I went through each bullet and mentioned what I knew how to complete and if I had experience doing it in a previous work place. I was asked how much PowerPoint, SharePoint, charting (excel/powerpoint), and Excel I knew. I mentioned I worked on all of those things in previous positions. I had plenty of my own questions as well.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Kaiser Permanente (Pleasanton, CA) in Oct 2009

      Interview

I sent my resume to the hiring manager per instructions from a friend who is an employee there, I got a call from the recruiter about two weeks later to complete a page of detailed finance background/experience questions. I got an interview with the hiring manager. One of the first questions within 5 minutes of the interview starting was we work a lot of hours, does that bother you! I took it to mean that we work 60 hours a week and weekends also whenever necessary. I made it past that interview and did four phone interviews over the next few weeks, then they had in come in for an additional four interviews. Clearly they hire through consensus or the director of IT finance just cannot make up his mind. After that nothing for a few more weeks. When I followed up, I was told they felt that the candidates they had were all over qualified and they were re-writing the posting and starting again. As a manager, I would take a person who is more qualified and have some bench strength rather than a person who can just do the job. If everyone in your department is working in access of 60 hours a week, I would find a way to leverage the over qualified person into a broader role to free up band width. While some feel that they person would be bored if they were over qualified, I think a person with the right work ethic would find other things to do which add value. They strike me as an organization that has grown rapidly and there is a highly level vision of where they want to go but they are lacking a detailed plan. People were bright, environment was professional, recruiter seemed to carry a lot of influence.
