      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Intuit (New York, NY) in Mar 2026

      Interview

The interview process was lengthy, and the final round lasted five hours. It felt disorganized, lacked a clear structure, and became unnecessarily exhausting, making the overall candidate experience less effective and enjoyable.

      Question 1

The first interview is with a recruiter, followed by a technical interview with an engineering team member. Candidates are asked to solve coding problems using a GitHub repository as part of the evaluation.
      Answer question

      Interview

The interview process consisted of one screening round followed by four technical rounds: Introduction & Craft Demonstration: Conducted by four interviewers. Technical Interview: Conducted by two interviewers. AI Assessment: Conducted by one interviewer. Technical Manager Interview: Conducted by one interviewer. Unfortunately, the experience during the Technical Manager round was disappointing. The hiring manager joined the call 10 minutes late and appeared disengaged throughout the session, frequently responding to office chats instead of actively participating in the interview. She suggested opening a document and writing the details there, showing minimal effort to engage in a meaningful conversation. Based on this interaction, I would not have accepted an offer even if it had been extended. On a positive note, the staff-level and principal-level interviewers were professional and conducted insightful discussions that added value to the process. After weeks of follow-up, feedback was finally shared, indicating that the hiring manager felt the challenging project presented during the interview was not sufficiently challenging. It remains unclear if the resume filtering and candidate selection were handled by someone else. In summary, I would not recommend investing the effort to complete five rounds of interviews, only to face delays, unclear expectations, and disengagement from key stakeholders.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Intuit

      Interview

Seemed like an interesting role, so I applied. Intuit has a bit of a reputation in this space, so I asked the recruiter about what kind of interviews I could expect. They said leetcode and a backend-focused system design; I confirmed this given the position I was interviewing for. Unfortunately, yes, they are still doing this! I declined to proceed. A completely generic and abstract software engineering test is not a useful barometer, particular for a role like this and at this level. I wouldn't really rely on a Python engineer reviewing my code that's going to production, nor would they rely on mine, so why are we doing this here? Stuck in the stone age, and with peace and love, it shows in their product UI.
