Received a request for a phone interview not long after submitting my resume. Interviewer called me 20 minutes late, did not advise she would be late and it was the very beginning of the day. However, I know things can happen.
As we discussed on the phone, it seemed as though she was reading my CV for the first time, and berated my lack of experience, when it had been clear in my resume and cover letter that it was my first job out of university. The position listed was entry level and did not require previous experience, though I did have some from volunteer initiatives.
The interviewer was condescending and rude. I answered her questions to the best of my ability, and she let me know she would follow up with a practical test to show my skills. The test never arrived despite my follow ups.
Overall, I felt this was disrespectful and a waste of my time. Why bother calling me and scheduling an interview if only to make the candidate feel bad for their lack of experience? That’s why they are looking for a job. Now that I have gained experience in the field, I have had recruiters from this company reach out to me, but I have no interest in working here or recommending them based on my first experience with them.
