I have applied through a staffing consultant. Consultant asked me to appear for the interview asap as requirement is very urgent and Markit will make you offer on same day if selected. So next working day was scheduled for the interview.
1) Coding Exercise Round :
I reached Markit office before time however I was kept waiting for half an hour. Then a person who seems to belong to HR came and gave me a two coding exercise. One of the coding exercise was based on Concurrency and another was based on OO design where they want to see how well the person is using OO Design concepts, Java 5 features and design patterns. I have completed both the coding exercise within 90 minutes with by designing according to OO principles.
2) 1st Technical Round:
After submitting the coding exercise, a VP level interviewer started the interview. He has asked questions around HashMap, NoSQL database, Relational DB, Multithreading, current project design, technologies used in current project and previous project. This round went well and they asked me scheduled for another technical round. Again next working day was scheduled for the interview.
3) 2nd Technical Round:
As per the scheduled datetime, I reached Markit office on time. Again I was kept waiting for 40minutes without any reason. Then the guy which seems to belong HR, started the interview without introducing himself or asking about myself. He asked questions regarding current roles and responsibilities, Deployment process, Production Hardware configuration details in current company, Spring boot etc.
The interesting thing in this round was that the questions were asked in open fire mode. He was asking questions one after another without listening to me. The interviewer was also having some kind of ego problem. Instead of interviewing me he was displaying his own skills and don't want to listen any word from me.
I felt something like the interview is just a formality. Either they have offered the position to someone else or this guy is already decided to reject me. No question was asked related to my experience, expertise, OO design, Java etc.
