      Marketing Associate Interview

      9 Jan 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Global Wave Group (London, England) in Dec 2020

      Interview

This job was advertised as "Angel" with no mention of company name on Indeed. The email I had received to invite me to the interview was riddled with grammar mistakes that almost looked intentional, and it wasn't signed off with a name. At the actual interview, I was in a room waiting with around 20 other people. All of us had varying job experience (from student, to hair dresser, to teacher, to banker) applying for the same position, and none of us were told it was going to be a group interview. Their reasoning for selecting a bunch of random people with different backgrounds and no experience in marketing was allegedly because "they wanted fresh faces and new ideas." We discussed how it was odd how none of us were able to find any background information on "Wave Global", despite having had a boastful run-down on how they have offices in the U.S, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, and showed us footage of conferences and corporate parties where hundreds had attended (there were no "Wave Global" logos in sight within the videos). The language used by interviewer (an American man in his 30s who went by Logan) was very vague, making references to how we everyone in that room of 20 people (with varying degrees of experience) was specially selected because we were special, and boasted about rapid growth within the company (he allegedly went from making around £300 a week, to now a six-figure-salary - within 6 months, with red flag references like "I worked overtime to make sure I progressed faster"). They offered £300 "on average" a week + commission to everyone regardless of experience. They described a 5 or 6 stage program, wherein the interviewer was at stage 4 and "building his business and starting non-profits globally". Logan talked about how he opened up a non-profit in relation to Wave Global, followed up by "non-profits make very good money". My 1-1 interview lasted a total of 2 minutes in a private room with a woman who spoke for about 1 and a half minutes of that time, and got call back the day after saying I got the job. Seems like their only job requirements are having two brain cells to rub together. Also they never actually made the name of the job title clear, they just spewed out vague ideas around "marketing". Through doing some extra research; I found that this company is related to others like "NXT Wave", "Wave Executives", "Alpha Innova", "Venture100", "Jwon Consultants" and "Trig Inc" just to name a few. Every few years they get rumbled and re-start under a different name to avoid investigation, and lure more vulnerable people into their pyramid scheme. Pathetic.
