I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Genentech
Interview
I had two phone interviews before I was scheduled for a in person interview.
The in-person interview was a 3 hour ordeal - six 30 minute interviews scheduled one after another with a work lunch to follow.

Question 1
Most questions were basic and technical but one question regarding research I did in college was a little confusing: how I compensated for the fact that an ontology automatically results in having to exclude some possibly important data. Since, I didn't design the study but was just an intern, I was a little stumped.
Very hard. Asked a ton of hard questions I did not really study for, interviewers were really nice though but the questions during the interview were too hard. Would recommend to study a ton of science related questions

Question 1
Normal Interview, college, experience and what I can do to help.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Genentech (South San Francisco, CA) in Feb 2014
Interview
I had a phone interview which lasted about an hour, and then less than a week later, I came in for a 6 hour interview from 10-4pm. I spoke the hiring manager, HR representative, 2 skip level managers, and a senior scientist for 30-45 minute interviews, and then had a lunch interview with 5 RAs who would be my peers. Some of the interviews were more personality-based, chatting and get to know each other, whereas others were technical. Before I came for the interview, I studied up on each person and previous work experience in order to speak in detail about the science and technical aspects.
