I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at GardaWorld (Winnipeg, MB) in Nov 2019
Interview
I applied on the GardaWorld website early November 2019, a few days later I received an Email inviting me to a recruitment event at the Sheraton hotel at the airport the following week. (Winnipeg, MB)
The event had 2-3 groups of 40 going through the testing phase that day; X-Ray test and basic math/literacy test. X-ray test consisted of 20 slides on a projector, and you have 20 seconds to find the object (Gun, Grenade, Knife or Nothing) and circle the correct answer on a test paper. You do get a brief presentation beforehand that shows you what to look for. Half of the room failed and had to leave the room, but you can reapply in 6 months. (TIP: Do some research on X-ray models beforehand so you are prepared, Color/Size)
Second test was basic math, reading, spelling, pattern solving; that consisted of 100 multiple choice questions. You have 1 hour to complete, but it’s easy and can complete in 20 min. Half of the room again failed this part, and were asked to leave.
Next hour those who were successful were given a 5 min one-on-one interview asking basic questions.
- Tell me about yourself
- Availability
- Why do you want the job
- why it the job important
- why GardaWorld
- what makes you fit for this job
- What would you do if a passenger refused to have bags searched
- What is the primary goal of a Screening officer
- What would you do if; type questions (ex: if someone runs past the screening area/or trespasses)
After, if successful you will be invited the following day for a more in-depth interview which lasts 30-45 minutes.
Good Luck!

Question 1
What would you do if a passenger refused to have their bags searched?
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at GardaWorld
Interview
Quite easy. Questions on customer service and about yourself. Undergo just one interview. And had to do a part down. Nothing difficult. You are being shown first then you do it
Fast, efficient. Write 2 exams once your application is accepted then an interview and after that was called and offered the job. The whole process was pretty easy, though the day of the exams and interview it was pretty long.
Interview was quite easy, there were mostly general questions asking about myself and my availability. There were some situational based questions like what would you do if you encounter an angry passenger, what would you do if someone refuses to get his/her luggage scanned.
