      Auto Damage Adjuster Interview

      27 Oct 2015

      Albuquerque, NM
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at GEICO (Albuquerque, NM) in Oct 2015

      Interview

It went quickly, I like that. The day I applied, I received an email, and the next day a phone interview, very brief. Basically explaining the travel and training, the physical limitations, salary, etc. The HR gal, Lauren, was outstanding. She was on top of everything right away, as if I was the only person she was reaching out to. Really great! She addressed questions that I had and kept me informed throughout the initial "get it rolling" process. I really like that. She also returned my email when I asked why I wasn't offered the job, it was due to poor performance on the role play assessment. Glad she got back to me as it was wearing me down trying to figure out why I, who in my honest opinion, think is Awesome! did not receive the best actor Oscar for best performance in a simulated office improv performance! Jeesh, I let everyone in my hometown of "Baxter" down...but hey, there's always next year! I had a local interview within the week. I really enjoyed the interview and I know it went well, I really do think I would be a superstar in this career. I know I am suited for this job, for sure... I wish I had found this forum prior to the role play assessment as that was an unexpected piece that you can't really prepare for, role play assessment. takes about 2 hours. There is where I let reservations get the better of me. I was not reacting like I actually would.... I was acting like people I have spoken to in customer service, saying things like, "we here at occidental appreciate your dedication and professionalism, so that is why I already worked up this estimate at the maximum allowable under our guidelines." I was thinking, " I am brilliant!" Nope,.. Not brilliant... The guy(a fake repair shop rep) yelled at me and said I was obviously new, and needed to understand the way things work and looked at me with mean stink eye. I froze, maybe even stuttered a bit..it's hard enough when you have to calm an actual customer, but the fake customer(Supervisor) who has your very future locked up behind those steely eyes...this guy was good. .I felt a loss for words. I never have not been able to bullsnot my way through a customer's issues...I feel I left that customer feeling less than satisfied..I had other dialogues that raced through my head as soon as I left there. Of course, Woulda, shoulda, coulda....argh! .There was 4 paper clips and one red paper clip, I actually obsessed about that for a second, surely, if I utilize these clips properly...Oh such brilliant use of the clips! Look at the chosen highlighted sections! Here's your adjuster! look no further folks! When do I start?I guess I will never know about that... It was fun, but it is not easy. They take their interviewing process to new heights. It is a fun experience, but get ready to be overwhelmed, yelled at and threatened for an hour or so. These guys are great actors, though. I think that part of their job would be super fun! I would like another shot at the role play, and can reapply in a year. I'll be practicing, and preparing. Geico, I will prove myself, oh yes, I will! Thanks for reading this, Hope it helps. Good luck future adjusters!

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at GEICO (Dallas-Fort Worth) in May 2026

      Interview

I got a first interview which was a Zoom interview with a single recruiter. It was relatively informal and easy going. They appear to simply want to see if you are who you say you are on your application and you do indeed have the background and knowledge which you claim. My recruiter was very nice and very easy going. She asked just a few very typical questions about my job history. Easy stuff. We had a really positive conversation and she stated she was going to recommend me for an in person interview with the local claims manager. She said that would take place a neutral location such as a collision repair shops so we can discuss my field knowledge. She told me to expect a call from him in the next 3 business days. I received no communication after that. I emailed my recruiter after 2 weeks and asked for any update at all and received no reply. Three weeks after my initial interview I received an email stating I did not get the job.

1st phone interview with hiring manager, 2nd interview was with the area manager and included a Role Play. They don't expect you to know everything they just want to see how you handle yourself under pressure in my opinion.
