After submitting my application, I received a call from an internal recruiter, who didn't give me her name. We had a good conversation and she said she'd send me a "prompt" as the first step in the hiring process, which I'd receive by "end of today." Five days later, having not received anything, I dialed the recruiter's number from my recent calls. She answered with "Hello," not her name, nothing indicating she was with GEICO, and I reminded her of our conversation. She said she'd had a personal emergency (it happens and I understood the brief delay) and was catching up on emails. She said I'd have the prompt by end-of-day. Nothing. Nearly three weeks later, I received an email saying that my candidacy was being closed because GEICO had been trying to get in touch with me, with no success. Clearly, their email had gone through and the recruiter had managed to connect via phone, so.... I had 48 hours to respond or I'd be deleted from consideration. I replied immediately. Three days later, I forwarded my original response and requested an update. Still nothing. This feels like a big red flag if the hiring process is this messy and disorganized.
