Auto Damage Adjuster Trainee/Management Development Program Interview

      28 Jun 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Katy, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at GEICO (Katy, TX) in Jun 2019

      Interview

I applied online and a few days later I received an invitation to complete an online assessment. The first assessment was pretty simple. It is timed but you want to answer as many questions accurately rather than finishing on time. After the online assessment, I received an email to set up a phone interview with the recruiter. The recruiter missed the appointment and after waiting by the phone for 30 minutes, I called him! He gave the excuse that he was in a meeting that ran over, but we proceeded anyway. The phone interview lasted about 45 minutes and towards the end, I could hear a timer going off in the background signaling that our time was up. Nevertheless, I moved forward. The next step was to complete a Caliper assessment which consists of personality based questions and patterns. I was also scheduled to go in for the role play. The role play assessment was not so bad. The packet was about 16 pages and just describes what all of the other forms are used for and some of the made-up company's rules. You will not use it during the actual role play but it is important that you read it and pay attention. Keep in mind the role play is testing your ability to follow directions, negotiate, customer service and time management. After the role play, they sent me home and said they would be in touch after they graded my work. The next day the recruiter called me and asked me to come in for an in-person interview. Per my understanding, this is the last step (aside from a background check and drug test). I sat with two managers while the recruiter asked a majority of the questions while recording my responses on a laptop. I could tell during the interview that managers were not really engaged. The one on my left kept checking his phone and the other one on the right was working on his laptop. At the end of the interview, the recruiter walked me out and said that the interview is usually hit or miss and that I may hear back by the end of the day. If I don't hear from them that day, they might have sent my information to the director for final review. A week later I received a generic email saying that I was not selected for either position and that I may apply again in six months. I would not apply unless you really want to be an adjuster or really want to work for GEICO.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How do you feel about working with a diverse group of people? How would you approach working with someone who has more tenure than you? What makes you a good fit for this position? Why do you want to be an adjuster? Why do you want to work for GEICO?
