I applied online. I interviewed at Freenow by Lyft (Barcelona) in Aug 2025
Interview
on last summer, I did technical interview that consist to add a feature in a simple CRUD project. During the implementation I was asked very simple questions of arqitecture, spring, exceptions, types, notations...
I answered all correct. After that, 30 minuts of more questions. On the interview it was one mid engineer and one senior german engineer with very bad english.
Day after I received a rejection mail, on the feedback it says that I didnt provide details on the asked questions (think completly fake), or I dont know Event drive or SQL vs NOSQL, or scalability, think that was also fake
I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Freenow by Lyft in Nov 2022
Interview
The process took 4 weeks. I applied to the position posted on LinkedIn. Soon I was contacted by the recruiter and we scheduled the first interview. It was an informal talk about my experience, the company and the team I was applying to. After that we scheduled a live coding challenge with a couple of engineers from the company. They sent me a part of the project written in Java and Spring beforehand. Then during a meeting in Zoom I had to complete this project with the requested REST endpoint. The task itself was quite simple. While i was implementing the requested updates they asked me a bunch of theoretical questions on Java and Spring. After the task was completed additionaly they asked me some architectural questions and prepared some whiteboard cases. Although I was told it will be kind of pair programming session, in fact it looked more like an exam. A week later I received feedback and an invitation to the interview with the manager. Once again it was an informal talk about my experience with some behavioral questions. Manager was really nice and told me a lot about the team and project. A couple of days after the call with the manager, I was invited to the 'Meet the Team' call. Team was very friendly and open. We mostly talked about hobbies, tastes and some funny situations in life. Two weeks and a couple of reach-outs from me the recruiter sent me a plain rejection letter, informing me that they decided to proceed with another candidate. I am kind of dissapointed that I spent so much time and energy to receive a rejection without a reason or a feedback on why I failed.
