      Social Media Interview

      16 Nov 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Los Angeles, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Fashion Nova (Los Angeles, CA) in Jan 2018

      Interview

I applied online. Got a reply quickly and did a phone interview with a recruiter. The recruiter was extremely unprofessional and rude. The phone interview lasted about 30 minutes covering general questions like how to interact with influencers, have I ever been in situations with celebrities before, my familiarity with the influencer landscape, and then it took a weird turn when she started asking about how I can handle working with strong personalities. At first it seemed like an ordinary question until she explained why she asked. It was because she explained that the CEO can be quite aggressive in nature (to the point that she was hinting he was abusive, which sounds like there were HR complaints about it). She then asked about what my pay expectations were. I asked what was the pay scale for this position before saying what I was looking for and she quickly said "We don't have a pay scale for this position. That is decided at the end if we provide an offer." First of all, that's a COMPLETE LIE because no company would look to hire a position without knowing how much they can afford to pay for that position. Secondly, IT'S CALIFORNIA STATE LAW TO PROVIDE THE PAY SCALE WHEN AN INTERVIEWEE ASKS FOR IT IF IT'S NOT PROVIDED ON THE JOB POSTING! If you don't believe me, google California Assembly Bill No. 168, it's under section c. I understand that the interview happened at the beginning of the year, but how bad are you at your job that you don't know what highly publicized laws affect your job especially if you work in the HR department and knowing current laws is part of your job? I sent a thank you letter for the email and follow up a week later. I get a reply that they are holding off on hiring for this position because they already have a full roster in this team and therefore they will reach out in a few weeks when they are ready. I never heard back from them again. Honestly, I think I dodged a bullet. The company seems like a mess and a huge lawsuit waiting to happen.

      Question 1

We consider the influencers that we work with as the same level as celebrities. Do you easily get star struck and how do you handle being around famous people?

      Easy interview

      Interview

I applied online and got a phone call. It was quick and easy and they invited to me to do an in person interview. I had to remind the person to send me an email on my in person interview. The interview process went well however, they have no communication skills whatsoever. I had to keep checking in. I feel if you are going to hire someone or not, you should let the person know. Not leave them with nothing. Definitely something this company needs to work on.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Fashion Nova (Los Angeles, CA) in Dec 2017

      Interview

The process was overall unprofessional. After applying to a position, and setting up a first interview I was beyond thrilled to learn more about the company, only to be disappointed when the hiring recruiter was incredibly rude during our interview. She only asked me one question, and called to say I was unqualified and not what she was looking for. Clearly this is a team that inexperienced because their job listing clearly didn't state what they're looking for, and they clearly don't have the skills to access if someone is a fit for the role without wasting the candidates time.
