On arriving for my video call, their video was off, for both founders. Now, tech issues can happen and if so no problem... but no mention at all was quite irregular in my opinion for a video call, particularly given I was on video. Had they mentioned it, it would’ve felt at least a little more that they recognised they’d chosen to leave their cameras off. Red flag 1, not a great look.
They then offered to go into detail about the role. From a company looking to build a studio in the UK as per the Job spec and recruiter, it was now managing the outsourcer partner in the UK. Did they change their mind mid call? No idea, another red flag.
After some very simple template questions, they then said they wanted to go ahead with a second interview, advised me of what that would entail and told me to liaise with the recruiter for the date/time.
After being left waiting for a week, the message is “sorry they decided to go with another candidate”.
If you’re going to tell a candidate about a second interview and that they will be proceeding, you’re creating a poor candidate experience when you change your mind mid flow.
We don’t mind not getting the job, but when the experience is this poor, the company concerned looks like they haven’t got a clue.
Amateur.
