      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at DoorDash (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2021

      Interview

Unlike anyone else I've seen on this site, I didn't get an offer but I think the process was generally positive. Does that make me a psycho? Anyway--some feedback for recruiters and some suggestions for intervewees, followed by a description of the process. Recruiters, I had a generally positive experience, with 3 major caveats: 1. Not a shred of useful feedback. Ya'll claim to be solving one of the most complex operations problems out there and, after 6 hours of getting grilled in interviews, you can't spend 5 minutes making a shortlist of where a candidate excelled and where they lacked? Insulting. 2. I hope you spent a good long time confirming the 24-hr analytical module is worth it, because it is incredibly demanding on an interviewee, and I don't see how you couldn't make it a 6- to 8-hour cap to get the same results. 3. One of my final round interviewers cancelled TWICE minute-of. This made it a 3 month process of interviewing. Do better. Interviewees-- 1. Don't imagine this is actually a mission-driven company. If you disagree, I hope you have a good answer to, for example, how DashMart could empower local businesses (and be sure to tell DD bc they sure didn't know when I asked). It IS a group of really smart people working on hard problems to make a lot of money. I think that's cool. But make an informed decision here. 2. Think deeply about the 3 sides of DD's business, potential problems that could come up, and how you'd solve. Every case question is a variation on that theme. 3. The best research resources I came across were Tony's interviews, the DD blog, and bearish essays on why DD will fail (understand the opposition's arguments better than they do and you can win any argument). The interview process consisted of -A quick standard recruiter phone screen -A 24-hour analytical exercise. Know how to clean up & manipulate a dataset, and build a cohesive defensible narrative. What any second- or third-year consultant should be able to do without a problem. Took me like 15 hours and I made 10-15ish slides. -Two 30-min interviews, one behavioral and one case-based, with team managers. -Four 30-min interviews, one behavioral and 3 mostly case-based, with more senior people. Everyone I talked to was friendly and smart. Seems like a cool company working on some fascinating and truly challenging projects within a supportive and cohesive environment. Ultimately, anyone would be lucky to work there as far as I'm concerned. Try not to be as nervous as I was for those later cases w directors and you'll be fine :)

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at DoorDash

      Interview

Had a phone screener with a recruiter who very clearly did not want to be there and just asked typical generic questions about my background, communication styles, etc. Was given a take home case study and short SQL exercise and given 48 hours to return it (which I spent most of my weekend on) only to receive an auto reject email two days later. I did not get to speak to the hiring manager or anyone on the team I applied for.

      Interview

Fairly simple recruiting process. Intro chat with recruiter, case study round, debrief of case study, then final round in office with team. Was given an Excel sheet full of transaction data and asked to put together a client-ready deck of slides with insights (graphs encouraged) and recommendations based on what was found.

      Interview

I went through two rounds, with HR and my would-be manager. Both were fairly straightforward. I did think the manager interview went well, but no dice. I believe they look for a certain style in approach that needs some research.
