      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at DoorDash (Washington, DC) in Jul 2018

      Interview

Interview process was very thorough and organized. Spoke to a total of 6 people ranging all the way from the recruiter to general manger. The first call was with a recruiter. She reached out to me ~2.5 weeks after sending in an application telling me to pick a time on her calendar for phone screen. The phone screen was a 20 minute call where she told me more about the position and also asked me about my past experience and how it can help with this current position. By the end of the call I was informed that I will be moving onto the next round which is a 1.5 hour interview with 2 different people (done via video conference call). Before the interview, the recruiter sent me a detailed explanation of the process as well as links to everyone's LinkedIn profiles so I can do my research as well. I was also given material that better describe the company to prepare for the role play that would take place. The first interview round was 2 separate 45 minute interviews. Aside from the role play it was mostly just conversational where they get to know you so they can tell if you will make a good cultural fit. The role play itself was just trying to convince a merchant to become a DoorDash partner so you do need to know a good amount of detail regarding the business side of the restaurant industry. I had prior experience working in the business side of the space so it wasn't a big deal but I can tell that if you don't...you should do research before hand (fixed costs vs variable costs, cost of doing nothing, lay outs, dining room fire capacity) After this interview round was over, I got an email from the recruiter that I will be moving onto the next round which is another 1.5 hour interview with two separate 45 minute interviews. Again, got both interviewers LinkedIn profiles. I was also asked to do a take-home assignment for them to see how well I understand the product. This round was more of the same...first interviewer asked to do a role play with a lot more difficult objections. Was also asked what passions I have outside work for them to analyze the cultural fit. The second interviewer was with the GM who basically told me ask me any questions you have so when you have to make a decision on a potential offer you have all the information you need. Also got some interesting questions from her such as "what is something you believe in that others do not?" Makes sense considering DoorDash considers themselves a creative tech company rather than just a "food delivery app" so this answer would let them know how your mind operates. After this round, I was told to have a 45 minute video interview with my would-be manager. This interview was purely conversational where he asked me who I prefer to be managed, what my sales tactics are, what makes me a good sales person for this specific audience, etc. Overall, it was a good conversation and lasted over an hour and I did not feel rushed and the would-be manager gave me genuine answers to my questions. This interview occurred on a Friday. Later that day the recruited reached out to me saying there is interest so her and the 5 people I interviewed with would come together and have a discussion regarding a potential hire. On Monday I got another call saying after deliberating they decided to move me forward to the next step which was references. They asked for one professional and one personal reference. The would-be manager gave my references a call and on Tuesday the recruited called me back saying they have put in a "recommendation for hire" and all that was left to do is to get the CEO to sign off on it. Thursday, I got a call from the recruiter saying everything was signed off and she sent me the contract offer as well as documents going through all the benefits. The process took 4 weeks from submitting application to offer...but only 2 weeks from first interview to offer. Overall, this was one of the better interview processes I have come across. Everything from the people I met to the organization of everything was great. I had 2 other offers and didn't think twice before joining DoorDash.

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at DoorDash (New York, NY) in Apr 2020

      Interview

The recruiter/team lead reached out to me on LinkedIn. I scheduled time and they no showed me without even an apology email. Just a rescheduled gcal event. Then when he finally showed up days later, he asked why I applied for the role (I didn’t). Proceeded to tell me basically how bad they were doing in terms of market share in nyc (lowest out of the apps). Then he asked why I applied years ago. I didn’t, it was the same situation. A recruiter reached out and I interviewed. Funny thing- when I interviewed originally in 2017 they left me in a conference room and went home. Yes, really. At least this time around I heard back from them!
