I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Dillard's (Charleston, SC) in Aug 2015
Interview
Met with store manager . The interview was around 10 minutes and very relaxed. He said they pay very well because they want their employees to have a career with them. After about 5 minutes he said he wanted to set me up with a second interview. I hope to do well at the second interview. Be sure to dress nicely, like you already work there.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about yourself
What's good customer service
What's bad customer service
How can you help us and how can we help you?
Standard interview, quite short (20 minutes) for the first round. Asked about past experience, sales skills, expected pay, and my future goals at the company. Interviewers were very nice and welcoming, made the experience much less intimidating!
Not sure what to expect. When I spoke to the manager it felt very condescending and off putting. The interview was fine but they exaggerated the amount of commission associates can make and didn’t even give me a chance to agree to a job offer just assumed that I would take it. I don’t have very high hopes about how it will be working there. When I came in for my interview one associate didn’t even greet me like she did the last customer and the energy of the atmosphere just felt super dull and soulless. I need this job on my resume as a fashion business student for internships so I’ll push through but not at all optimistic about the work environment.
