      Sales Manager Interview

      29 Sept 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Barcelona
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Criteo (Barcelona)

      Interview

Applied online and got an email back a couple of days later to schedule a telephone interview. The initial phone interview was done on Skype and lasted about 45 minutes. It was pretty basic stuff, questions about my resume and knowledge of Criteo (business model, services etc). The girl that interviewed me was very friendly and easy to chat with. She wanted to know why I wanted the role and what my salary expectation was. (later in the process she explained that the salary was in the range of 32k to 35k with 65% of this being base salary and the remainder being commission). A few days later I got an email informing me I was into round two which was an online test. Someone has posted every question here on glassdoor from this stage. If you google search you can find them. My questions were more or less identical with some of the figures changed. I thought it was a bizarre test for a sales role. First couple of questions are pretty easy with some of the later ones being tricky. The recruiter sent me a list of terms to familiarise myself with. I googled them all and found the formulas to answer any questions. About a week later I got another email telling me I was into round three. This was a conference call with a sales manger in the UK and also one in Barcelona. One of them said virtually nothing throughout the whole interview while the other did all the talking. The lady doing the talking was extremely cold. I've plenty of experience doing interviews and I found her to be one of the worst interviewers I've ever encountered. She was asking questions which I'd answer and then not interacting at all with me. She'd go silent for 5-10 seconds and then ask another question without any follow up questions. One example was she said give me a brief overview of what we do here at Criteo. I gave here what I would consider a brief overview of what the do, queue a 10 second pause and she moves onto something else. That was the only question she asked me about the firm in the entire interview. I actually knew the company inside out having researched it for days but I didn't get a chance to show it. During the third call they explained that commission is paid on the gain in profits by the firms using the Criteo system, versus their old way of doing things. This means you could be opening account after account but getting no commission. The also said many firms agree to use the Criteo system but never implement it, again meaning you could open accounts but get no commission. I was starting to have doubts about the role the entire way through the third interview. All in all I felt the third interview went poorly. I had no connection with the interviewer and probably didn't answer some questions as well as I could have. A few days later I got an email saying that I was going forward in the process due to my lack of knowledge of Criteo and their services. I actually laughed when I read it because I was only asked a solitary question during the third interview about the firm. Anyway onwards and upwards. I hope my experience helps someone else prepare for their interview. Good luck and happy hunting.

      Question 1

Initial interview was basic things about my cv, Criteo and why I wanted the job. Second round was a maths test. Third round was similar to the first. 4th round is a presentation.

I applied online. I interviewed at Criteo (Sydney) in Feb 2022

      Interview

3 rounds - 1st was a casual chat, 2nd with HR and 3rd with the Hiring manager. Short interview process in all however not the most organised. The vibe was very dependent on the person you interviewed with so hard to gauge the employer vibe.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Criteo (Barcelona)

      Interview

One call with HR for some explanation and skills review One call with a team lead One video call with two managers The third call was conducted by a new appointed manager that was clearly close minded and was not thinking out of the box for one second, it’s good to train your employees for sales techniques but make sure that they can go a little bit out of their role sometimes and use other techniques and soft skills. Time lost for me as you guys don’t give any news post interview plus really low compensation. No wonder why you have shitty reviews lately in Barcelona if you have such people in your team It’s ok to spam with your fancy videos but clearly does not apply to interviewers.

We’re sorry to hear you didn’t have the optimal candidate experience, and we appreciate you taking the time to give your feedback. This is something we take seriously, and are continuously looking to improve. Part of our development philosophy is to support and upskill team members as they move into management roles especially as they take on greater responsibilities in interviewing, and from past experience we believe having two managers of different experience levels in an interview can give a more balanced perspective. In our interview process we look at assessing core competencies and skills which are a requirement of our roles. We fully agree that in Sales, fresh thinking is important. If you have more specific feedback we’d like to hear from you and have further perspective on your experience, so we can continue to improve. Difficult interview

      Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Criteo

      Interview

Very well structured interview process. First there is a call with HR to discuss about your experience and how you would fit in the company. Second interview is a phone call with a team lead for a role play and again assess your skills. Final interview is the continuation of the role play plus some other questions.
