      Consultant Interview

      10 Mar 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Capco (London, England) in Mar 2017

      Interview

I sent my resume to Capco online and within a day i was contacted by a member of their Human Capital (HR) team. The conversation over the phone with him was very quick paced - it was like he had already made a decision and no matter what I said the result would have been the same. The telephone conversation was very, very rushed! I felt like I had to speed up what i was saying because he made me feel like he was in a rush. At the end of the 7minute telephone call he tells me that he wants to progress me to the next stage of interview (first stage of face to face interviews). I received an email the next day to confirm my availability but the email was VERY cold and in my gut there was something telling me not to go to the interview. The email was not personable and the lady who emailed me had a rude tone to the email. The email felt very rushed, like no time could be wasted on this interview process, this was because it was full of spelling mistakes, missed words in sentences and I was not addressed properly. I accepted and provided my availability for the face to face interviews to which i did not receive a response. A day later i followed up asking to be sent an outlook invite and confirmation. I did receive a very cold email response via the outlook invite back to which i accepted. I then received a rude email the following day saying "Excuse me can you confirm your acceptance in writing not just outlook acceptance". This was enough for me. The poor emails, the rushed attitude, the behaviour - all warning signs for a culture i do not want to work in. The day of my interview i was stressing, i was researching all about Capco and the Financial Services industry. I then decided that this was not normal to feel so stressed and 'incompetent' for some reason. I thought the pressures, the emails sent and the tone of voice on telephone didnt suit what i was looking for. I also received another offer from a firm and decided to accept that. I wrote a very sincere email to the HR lady explaining my situation to which i receive no response back just a Cancellation outlook invite email. No further correspondence, no response, no replies. This was enough for me and confirmed my good decision to not work for a company that treats it's preliminary employees in such a way. I am glad i rejected them before giving a bad culture company the time of day. Hope this helps others out with their journey.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about your experience. We are very disappointed to hear that you had a negative experience and please note that your feedback has been shared with the team. Time and again we hear that people join Capco due to the people they meet throughout the recruitment process and so we are sorry to hear that this was not your experience. We are currently reviewing our overall recruitment process to ensure that all candidates have a positive experience regardless of whether they join the firm or not. It's important to us that everyone engaging in the Capco recruitment process gets a real sense of the unique Capco culture and we set high standards for ourselves in this regard. It appears that on this occasion, we fell short of our high standards and therefore will take your feedback on-board.

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Capco

      Interview

Positive My interview process with Capco was one of the most welcoming and respectful experiences I’ve had in consulting. Every person I met was friendly, genuine, and intentional about creating a comfortable environment. There were no “gotcha” or trick questions — the conversations were straightforward, fair, and focused on understanding my experience. I appreciated that they gave me time to think, ask for clarity, and speak openly without feeling judged. There was no sense of elitism or ego from anyone on the panel. Compared to other firms I’ve interviewed with, Capco’s culture felt noticeably more positive and grounded. I left the interview feeling respected, valued, and confident that my background and experiences were truly appreciated.

      Interview

Interview process was fairly smooth, mostly verbal questions and no live coding/coding exercises. Overall a nice experience. Some issues after accepting the offer however, they then took 3 weeks to get back in contact with me. The response was that the role was no longer needed and i may get hired as a "culpability" role. Within 24 hours this was then changed to their is a role after all. This part was rather stressful.
