      Human Resources Administrator Interview

      21 Oct 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at CDL Software in Oct 2017

      Interview

The interview comprised a mixture of both standard interview questions such as 'what do you know about us?' and competency based questions. After the interview there was a half an hour exercise to complete; consisting of a bit of Word, bit of Excel spreadsheet to design and Outlook to schedule an interview. Unfortunately, I got a strong feeling in the interview that my interviewers, the HR assistant and the HR manager were just going through the motions and weren't particularly interested which put me off answering genuinely and to the best of my ability. It wasn't a good start when the interview started a little later than build and I had been waiting in reception for quite a long time. I feel more could have been done to put me at ease as it felt like a tense interrogation rather than a natural conversation. I was told at the start it was informal, but it felt very formal and tense! The room was also very hot which also affected my ability to answer well, and although my interviewers admitted the room was warm, maybe better preparation could have been done beforehand to not put a candidate in an unfair disadvantage. As indicated in another review, it is poor HR practice, for HR professionals aswell, to not provide candidates with interview feedback, especially when they have had to take time off work and complete a long exercise. Quite disgusting really.
