      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Buffalo Exchange (Minneapolis, MN) in Feb 2015

      Interview

I was called for a first interview where they asked pretty mundane/corporate questions. They had a buy simulation set up--gave me a bag of clothes and asked me what and why I would or wouldn't buy from it. That took about an hour. They asked for a second interview--that entailed them pointing me to a specific rack and asking me to pick out 3 items that would sell quickly and 3 that I thought would sell slowly. Then they had another round of interview questions that were more fashion related. Last, they gave a personality test. Two sheets with the same personality adjectives on them: on one you checked the adjectives that describe how you feel other people expect you to behave, and the second sheet you check how you believe you actually behave. They told me this would be sent to corporate and put into an algorithm. This interview took over an hour. Said they would call "early next week" for a third interview. They did not call, even after I followed up mid-week. I received a letter in the mail over a week later thanking me for my time and informing me they did not need my services at this time. Impersonal, corporate.

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Buffalo Exchange (Washington, DC) in Aug 2015

      Interview

The first round of interviews was informational and casual, and the manager asked general questions about my work experience, why I wanted to work with Buffalo Exchange, and my understanding of fashion and current trends. The second round of interviews was more technical and asked me to pick five pieces in the store within a category (ie; women's dresses) that would sell quickly and five pieces that wouldn't. Then I had to explain why, based off the style, current trends, quality of the piece, etc. I also did this again with clothes that were boxed but not on the floor. Overall, the managers were friendly, engaging, and just trying to gauge how much I knew about fashion and how much I was willing to learn.
