      Lead Software Engineer Interview

      15 Aug 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Remote, OR
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Booking.com (Remote, OR) in Aug 2018

      Interview

My first contact was a recruiter. I had a first interview with her, we discussed the roles and I was given some details about the position. Then I had an hour technical interview , I must confess it was very easy, much easier than expected(from a technical point of view). The next step was a competency based interview with two guys that took and hour and a half. Finally I was offered to continue the process as a Software Engineering which would take some more interviews . At this point the recruiter was not able to give me any feedback , when I asked her about that, she had to take some time to search for it and gave me a few comments .Finally I declined to start a new process for a different position.

      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Booking.com (Amsterdam) in Mar 2021

      Interview

I applied via LinkedIn. They reached out for interview. of HR round.. The day of interview. HR was a no show then rescheduled. This time he did show. Then scheduled for technical/managerial (not sure what was it) round and then again no Show from them without any email or intimation. Like they feel its only their time that matters. Anyways then finally after long as sometimes my schedule was also busy had to ask them for some other time to reschedule couple of times, but at least I informed them all the time. They had my resume and during the interview asked question totally unrelated to my area of work. That thing is never a relevant topic to my area of work. Just to give an analogy, If you ask a soccer player, how to dig a tunnel. I never mentioned even a word of 'tunnel' in my resume, then why schedule the interview at all That was the first question asked and then I got judgement right on my face that I am not fit. I was feeling the interview was scheduled just to reject me on purpose. The interviewer could not even explain the purpose of and what they are trying to achieve for which this opportunity was held for. Right below here I can see a place "Job Interview difficulty" section. A suggestion to @Glassdoor, Add a new choice "STUPID"

      Lead Software Developer Interview

      18 Mar 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Booking.com

      Interview

      1. Hackerrank test. 4 programming test out of 3 were not written properly and did not mention the input format well 2. HR discussion to check my skills and technologies. 2 days later suddenly they said my profile is not suitable for position. Then why do they ask people to write the Hackerrank test??? They try to be oversmart by conducting programming tests. But forget basic common sense.
