      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Asana

      Interview

I applied online after seeing a posting for a role that aligned well with my background. I was beyond excited to have an opportunity to interview with Asana - I have utilized and believed in this product for several years - from my perspective, it was an opportunity anyone would jump at - just take a look at their reviews, the company health, and the product - it really seems like it would be an amazing place to work. I was contacted by Asana fairly quickly, and from the beginning to the end, I was instilled with confidence, open & consistent communication, and above all, courtesy - I was incredibly excited at the prospect of working here. I lost my job, at another well-regarded tech company, at the start of COVID-19. I have been looking for a position since losing my job. Like most folks who have experienced this unfortunate loss, I was hopeful, and had experienced my fair share of rejections or "ghosting" - simply ignoring or not responding to a candidate after they went through anywhere from one to several rounds of interviews. To me, the greatest disrespect and most unkind thing a company can do is to give a candidate, especially in this economy, false hope, and then to completely disappear even after stating they'd get back to them. Well, this is exactly what they did to me, and what I'm seeing, that they also did to others. I got through four rounds of interviews - the end included nearly a four hour long back-to-back Zoom interview stint. I also prepared an assignment prior to the interview. This entire process took a substantial amount of time, effort and preparation. I was told that I would be a great fit and that I had good news coming soon. I waited over 5 days to hear back from them (including two full days past the date I was told I'd hear back). I sent a follow up email again (after my initial thank you) to let them know how grateful I was and that I'd love to work for them - that I hadn't heard back as expected Tuesday and I had checked my spam/junk, but wanted to ensure I didn't miss anything. I ended up with a generic rejection - via voicemail - so totally unprofessional and just not right. You don't leave a final state candidate a voicemail.... and it took like a minute in to even hear I did not get it. It leaves me with an incredibly poor taste in my mouth as a candidate - and not just a candidate, a candidate in today's economy, who had made their concerns present, and who has been on the job hunt for so long. This truly was awful and I don't recommend Asana.
