Interview
I applied online in November 2017 and was invited to do a telephone interview at the beginning of December. The company had issues with their phone lines so it cut out halfway through my interview. Most of the questions were hypothetical. The person on the phone didn't seem to really engage and his voice wasn't clear on the phone which hindered the process. He also couldn't answer the questions I asked at the end of the interview. I was told that they would get back to me as soon as possible, which would be a maximum of two weeks after the closing date which was 31st December. By mid-January I had heard nothing regarding my application, and noticed that the closing date had been postponed. I did not hear anything regarding this until April, when I was sent a standard rejection email and informed that there is no opportunity for feedback. This is not what I would expect from Arup and is very disappointing. It would definitely put me off applying for the company in the future because the way they treat candidates is appalling.
Multi-stage interview. Final stage is an assessment centre that lasts about 3 hours, involving a case study interview (answering how you would approach a theoretical project) and a more typical interview

Describe a project when you've had to complete work timely with competing deadlines.
It was a lot more casual than what I am used to. But this was certainly welcomed. Felt the hiring managers were genuinely interested in getting to know you and your ambitions
