A screening interview with HR (call), 1 round with the hiring manager (virtual), 2nd a round with the team members (on-site).
When I interviewed for the role, The posting had been up for a year already. I went through 2nd round and it seemed like the hiring manager was very excited for the third round,
The very next day HR sent a boilerplate email saying they decided to move on with another candidate... not even making the effort add my name to the email. If you are asking a candidate to take time, learn about your company, and prepare for an interview - which btw takes hours if not days to do so- especially when during the interview you show interest, discuss the next round of interviews even, and then send out a generic email with a response that is not true, I known it is not true because of the mismatch in the reality shared by the manager vs the HR and that it has been months since that email and the role is still open. This shows a negative light how this company would be treating their human capital.
Have the decency to write an email, even if it is a single sentence, and convey the truth.
