I was contacted by the recruiter and had a quick 15-20 minute call with them. Following that conversation, I was set up to speak with the director of marketing. I went into the interview expecting it to be only the marketing director but the digital marketing manager was there as well. In my experience, having someone at the interview without being told in advance is a red flag. The interview was very short - only 30 minutes. I got the feeling right away that I was not a serious candidate - which is fine, that's life. But, I found it odd that they even bothered to give me an interview if it was not being taken seriously. They had discussed that they needed this role to assist the marketing director who is in so many meetings that they cannot do the work that needs to get done. So, again a red flag. I question their choice as well to interview me and waste their time especially after they explained how busy they are and how many meetings they have. In the future, I hope they take into consideration the time an effort that goes into preparing for an interview and not waste candidates time if they are not taking their application seriously.
Another red flag to me is that they are full in-person. I understand a lot of employers are going this route now, but I generally find that it is the toxic ones as we have learned from the pandemic that wfh is more productive and leads to happier employees.
I wish them the best in their search and i'm sure they already had found what they were looking for in this 2024 job market.
