      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Boston, MA) in May 2022

      Interview

Glassdoor I applied to Amazon on a Monday (no referral) and heard back from a recruiter the next day. I had a phone screen the following week, and during the phone screen, was invited to a loop. That same week, I had a prep call with another recruiter. This recruiter informed me who would be interviewing me and which leadership principles I would be tested on. They really pushed “setting me up for success”, which was helpful. The questions asked by Amazon are very different from what you’d be asked in “normal” interview processes—the focus is on whether you fit within the leadership principles. The day of my loop, I met the hiring manager, a person who would have been a colleague, and who I assume to be a Bar Raiser (this was an interview for a career change program). I was scheduled for about an hour for each, but one of them ended early to give me a break. I had prepared a lot for the interview and was not surprised by any of it—the process got a little messy after the interview itself. Exactly a week after the interview, I was called by my very first recruiter and told that the team was inclined to hire. I was to expect the offer letter in a few days. After that, I did not really hear from the recruiter for two weeks while I waited for an official offer. When I sent emails asking for updates, I did not receive any response. About two weeks later, I received a call from another recruiter who told me what the numbers were, and shortly after, I had the written offer in an email. I had only a few days to accept, and when I sent emails with follow-up questions to my offering recruiter, I received no response. I only got a response to my emails once I said I would not be taking it—the ones where I had questions had been ignored completely. After my interview, I was pretty much ghosted by all recruiters aside from when I got my written offer. They were impossible to get in contact with and I was in limbo for most of this process… this was anxiety-inducing. I was a little surprised by the offer itself, given economic conditions, which was also a reason I went in another direction. If you study the leadership principles and apply your experiences, you will do well with the process!

      Interview

Long but thorough and well documented interview process. They left no stone unturned but that gave me good confidence when an offer was made. Be prepared and do some studying beforehand.

      Interview

4 back to back interviews. All behavioral based on their leadership principles. It wasn't bad, just exhausted. They sent an email later saying I passed the interview, but couldn't give me an offer at the time. They said they would if the position opens up again *shrugs*

      Interview

Interviewed by four people (non-team members) back-to-back, 45 minutes each. The team seemed positive and friendly. After months of waiting without a start date due to an inclined offer, I was eventually rejected.
