I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (New York, NY) in Oct 2020
Interview
A waste of time. Contacted by a recruiter for role. Scheduled to take 115 min spent taking an online assessment most of which had nothing to do with role but behavior. The technical piece even though I selected Application Dev and Database as strong points focused 90% on migration and network admin tasks. Received call to schedule technical interview. Spent an hour on the phone with a very condescending solutions architect whom I could barely understand. He did not bother trying to help me out by having a video interview. Instead sounded like he conducted interview from his car on the road. After that I was ghosted. If I would have made it past then I would have a 4.5 hour virtual interview.
I understand that AWS would like to have well rounded individuals but asking Developers/Architects with 18 years experience to cite CIDR tables and understand the white paper level details of Raid 5 for a pre-sales solutions architect role is just absurd and a waste of my time spent. I answered the majority of questions correctly but not at the white paper level.
I feel that Amazon likely will hire people that do not already have a job in the field and spend days on in taking Amazon Interview prep classes. I have a good job and do not have time for that so why contact me? An entire industry exists around interviewing with Amazon. If Amazon feels that this produces quality talent so be it. It is fake as can be though.
Advice if you want to work for AWS. Memorize all the questions you see here. Then be prepared to talk about them as if you invented the protocol.
Few rounds of interview, mixed with behavioral and technical questions to showcase you knowledge of building system on aws. They also asked gen ai questions on how you would create these systems
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Apr 2026
Interview
You do 4 back to back interview in 1 day. It was exhausting. Besides that really appreciated the recruiter giving out interview prep before it takes place. The good thing is there is no coding round.
Application
I interviewed at Amazon (Berlin)
Interview
The interview process was very challenging and thorough. The questions required deep technical knowledge and problem-solving under pressure. While tough, it was fair and tested real-world skills, communication, and adaptability.
