      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Amazon (Lexington, KY) in Jun 2018

      Interview

Applied through a recruiter. Talked the same day and then scheduled a phone interview with Hiring Manager for the next day. Pretty quick turn around but this was not their first round of interviews for this position. Spoke with Hiring Manager for 45 minutes to a hour. He asked very detailed questions about 2 of the scenarios that I gave. - What is the difference between Sumif vs Sumifs - Most Complex Financial Model - What is favorable ROI look like Just kind of peeled the question like a onion, as other candidates have stated. But if you are knowledgeable about the example you gave then you will have nothing to worry about. Gave me a short summary about him, the department and the position. I was then emailed by the recruiter a few hours later to schedule a face to face at an upcoming hiring event which was a few days later.... They send you a lot of preparation and travel information to help prepare. But since it was short notice for me I was not able to prepare as much as I would have liked. Before the interview they sent me a excel test. Mostly Hlookup, Sum-ifs, Filter, Sort, And a Financial Model. If you work in excel then it is pretty cut and dry. They do however, only give you one hour to complete and it is time stamped. So you have to send it back regardless if you are done or not if you want to interview. So let's get to it. I drove down the night before. They pay for everything. Just save receipts. Mileage, Food, Hotel and etc. The hotel was actually paid for so you don't have to get reimbursed for the stay. The interview was the next morning. Had to be there at 7:45 am to get signed in by security. I would suggest eating breakfast because no lunch or anything was provided. Just small bathroom and water breaks. I felt like I was in prison for some reason. Any who so it was 1-hour tour with 4 other candidates in which you all are interviewing for the same job. The tour was kind of rushed because they warehouse is huge and not enough time to show all the departments. After tour there are 5- 45 Minute interview. They will be with the Hiring manager, other managers on the same level or same department, Operations manager and a HR person. 1- Each interviewer will ask about 4-5 questions. So yes you will need 25-30 different scenarios. They are all Behavioral questions.. Tell me about time when and etc. They do not want you to repeat a scenario so if you can come up with that many then good for you! 2 - Everyone was pretty nice. Surprisingly enough the HR person was kind of over it when it came to me. I could tell she really didn't have any interest in me at all from the beginning. Awkward! I didn't know if she was tired from all the interviewing or what but nor the less, I just answered the questions and continued with the process. My recruiter called the next day and said they declined to move forward. Nice turn around time though. I gave so much detail about my interview because I have no intention on applying to this company again. To have someone interview that long is insane and tiresome no matter how good you are at interviews or how much you prepare. Also they do not provide feedback about why you did not get the job. That's like giving me a 45 day evaluation and telling me I need improvement but not telling me what area I need to improve. So I can not tell you why I was denied. As well, I did not see a lot of diversity other then the warehouse associates. (Of Course) The only reason I rated this interview as difficult was because of the extensive interview process. The questions themselves was not difficult. If this is your ideal company then I suggest preparing as much as possible. There are areas for opportunities and the pay is good. The offices for the administration people in the warehouse was very outdated. So do not expect luxury inside the office. At least at this location. Make sure you're very intrigued by the tour and ask questions. In the interview process, just be you. Be professional. Bring your examples and make sure you study those Leadership principles and they are applied to all the scenarios you have.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why Amazon? What where you surprised to see in the tour? Have you ever been asked to work outside of your scope of knowledge? Have you ever had to reach out to a SME for assistance? What software you have experience with?

      Interview

One HR screening, Phone screening, Loop interview with 5 People, Team matching interview. The loop interview was tiring since it was 45mins per interview, and you would have to provide examples for LPs.

      Interview

Generally conversational and asking about your resume and experience. After the assessment link is sent to you via HR, they can invite you for a phone screen. This phone screen generally lasts an hour.

      Interview

They asked a lot of behavioral questions and it seemed like SQL/Data Analysis was heavily required. Would definitely recommend prepping all the common behavioral question. Also its important to know the core principles of Amazon
