Phone interviews, onsite. Really a quick reddit and Google search for interview experience will give loads of info.
Invited onsite. Was supposed to be 5 45 min interviews back to back but one guy (the one who was not even in the division I was applying for, common amazon interview practice) was not able to make it.
Interviews went well. Only irratating thing was that thru my phone and in person interviews they kept continually hinting and asking if I would be interested having this job in another office on the east coast (I said sure). It was clear near the tail end of my phone interviews that either tehy had filled the seattle positions and we're looking for ppl for the other coast or I was being brought in as a filler. I went ahead with the interview bc I didn't believe they would waste the money to fly me all the way out to WA to check a box.
My gut ended up being right. The recruiter called same day said feedback from the interview was amazing and that an offer "would be coming in a day or two". Lo and behold 2 days later I get a call from HR saying it was a tough decision and a lot of back and forth and they've decided not to extend me an offer, but they thought I was a perfect fit for amazon and want to put my name in for some other positions. She sent me a list if open positions in the division and said she would make a few phone calls on the ones I would be interested in but would be able to find me a spot "in a few days or a month or two" .
She said it would be a few days before she'd follow up with me. Lo and beholf a month and a half later...followed up with her 2 weeks, then a month and not one response or acknowedgement. This was almost a 3 month process and my time was wasted and was severly run around. Had to let go of 2 offers during the process bc recruiter strongly led me to believe an offer was coming but needed "a few more days". Horrible and disgusted
