Got a call from the hiring manager few days later out of nowhere without any prior notice. He asked me some questions like: 1. What is OSPF? 2. Define different stages in OSPF? 3. What is BGP? 4. Path manipulation techniques in BGP? 5. Loop prevention IBGP/EBGP? 6. What is VLAN 7. What is VRRP/HSRP? 8. Salary expectations. I was called again 2-3 days later from a senior Network Engineer. He asked many technical deep dive questions. 1. What is Nexus? 2. What is VPC? 3. What is a port channel and its protocols? 4. What is Route Reflector and Confederations? 5. What is Source based routing/Destination based routing? 6. What is an ACL 7. What is NAT/PAT 8. Why is BGP stuck in Active state? 9. What are private VLANs 10. Do you know how to crimp a cable? 11. Do you prefer Vijayawada/Hyderabad? 12. What is BGP Full Mesh Rule? 13. Some basic questions on MPLS? 14. What is difference between a router and Switch? 15. Explain about broadcasting? 16. What is a VxLAN 17. What is IPv6 ? I answered most them since I was based out of Hyderabad. I was asked to come head office in Himayat Nagar. I was interviewed by the director and the branch manager. I was asked again for a salary expectation. They don’t pay a lot but it was the best offer I had on hand. So, I took it.
