Just like to preface this by saying this interview is not an indictment of the company or hiring process as a whole, just my one specific experience with this one hiring manager on one day. I only went as far as having a phone screening with their manager guy, but it was so bad that I feel I should let future interviewees know.
I applied online and ~4 weeks later they got back to me to set up a phone screening with some "manager". Before the phone interview with the "manager", my only point of contact was with a recruiter over email, who said they couldn't provide me much information other than what is on the job description. The only information I got from the recruiter was to set up a phone screening interview with this "manager".
A week or so later I had my phone interview with the "manager". I put manager in quotations because he all he said his title was but never elaborated on manager of what. I asked him what his title was and all he said was "I'm a manager" and never elaborated on what. The only questions he asked me were did I have experience in X, Y, and Z, which were straight off the job description. He should have been able to get that information from my resume, which he said he didn't have in front of him.
No technical questions or inquiries on my background or other experiences. I tried to ask more questions about the position but all I got were short answers that yielded even more questions. I got a feeling like this "manager" didn't really want to interview me and based on how our 20 minute conversation went. If they found another candidate and decided to go with him/her, I would have understood if they decided to cancel the interview with me. But the whole interview felt clunky compared to other phone screening interviews I've done.
