They did not ask me about my experience or projects until the final round with the CEO who was surprisingly rude. He introduced the call by saying “Do you know who I am? I’m the CEO.” Duh. He then proceeded to say “You know, we’ve hired a few data scientists for this job but it was too hard for them.” Ok if you don’t think I’m good enough why did you waste my time with an interview? No one in your company even knows my experience because they never asked. He asked me about a facet of my experience and I recounted a good project from my last job at which point he interrupted me and grew angry because (I guess) he only wanted an example from my current job?? Never had that happen. Throughout the process they kept telling me how their data’s a mess and I repeated, that’s what I specialize in cleaning up. But since they never asked about my current job they never learned that. Then the CEO said “OK we’ve got 9 minutes left, any questions?” If you’re a talented data scientist with options, you should ask yourself if that’s someone you want to work for. If you have no options I could understand working there but it’s going to seriously suck.
