This was for the Princeton location. The interview was over Google Meets/Hangouts. I had some trouble with the app on my phone and could not hear the audio. We ended up doing a phone call. I enjoyed our conversation and thought it went well. The person interviewing me seemed pleased with me and asked me to send her my references. I did and I notified all of my references that this employer would be contact them. However, I never heard back from the employer. It was quite embarrassing and inconsiderate to ask me for my references and have me go to the trouble of alerting my references when they did not contact them. Perhaps they did not thoroughly read my application and salary requirements (their application process is unorthodox and tedious and takes a lot of trouble to complete so they should really be more careful). I found this to be unprofessional and a bad sign of things to come. I've worked with a lot of start up companies so I'm pretty understanding but at the very least the employer could have responded to my thank you email and explained what happened. Next time, don't have people notify their references until you're more certain. It is disrespectful.
