      Cashier Interview

      10 Oct 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Wyomissing, PA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ALDI (Wyomissing, PA) in Sept 2024

      Interview

It won't let me put where this was so this was the 1065 Woodland Rd, Wyomissing, PA 19610 location. I am sure this is a great place to work but I'll be honest I'm very disappointed with how unprofessional the whole interview process was. When I filled out my application I believe I did attach my resume, and the hours of availability I had. I was contacted about doing a group interview. I showed up and theirs tons of people there filling out papers no one around to explain what we're supposed to be doing. I ended up going up to a cashier and she told me. I grabbed a paper and filled it out. It basically asked our hours of availability. I was a little annoyed because they also asked us to bring our resume which both had been submitted previously online. This made me feel like my application wasn't even looked at. I think well it's a group interview so maybe it's just easier if we all have it on hand to just give to them instead of them pulling it up on the computer or printing everyone's information out because a lot of people were there. After a bit we were given a quick tour of the store, and taken into the back where we were told more about the different jobs and hours. We were also told that normally they'd interview everyone but because of how many people were scheduled they couldn't. If I counted correctly twenty three maybe twenty four people including me had been invited to this group interview and were present. According to the manager apparently they usually cap it at twenty people but whoever had scheduled the interviews messed up or something I don't know. How they'd be able to interview twenty people in an hour I'm not sure maybe theirs usually more then one manager. That's fine stuff happens. We're then informed that only some of us will be called back for a second interview. This was considered the first interview despite him not getting to know any of us at all. How they were going to pick who got a second interview if I'm remembering correctly was based off the paper they had us fill out before we started. So to elaborate the information we gave them at the interview was information that I believe we all already gave on the application. We were all invited to the interview with the knowledge we gave them once again at that interview. And they were using that to decide if we'd get a second interview despite not even having a first. I think it's really messed up that over twenty people were promised an interview, and then only some people got one. We all came under the impression that we'd get at least one interview that day, and none of us did, and only some of people got one at all. The information we were given prior to the interview was very misleading and it was very inconsiderate of everyone's time. People have to make arrangements and plans to get to this interview and are under the impression that they'll be respected and our time was not respected at all. Also a few of us did go up to the manager afterwards to introduce ourselves and just be friendly and he seemed so annoyed by that. For a place that sent us interview tips for interviewing at Aldi's to read beforehand and said in those tips that we should be writing a handwritten thank you note or email after the interview the expectations were very high of us when our time was disrespected. The bare minimum I expect of an interview is to be interviewed when I'm told I'm going to be interviewed. If they had even just apologized for too many people being there that day and everyone got an interview at a later date I would've been a bit frustrated but mistakes happen and they would've been working to make it right but they didn't. It is extremely difficult to get a job right now and every interview and day looking for a job counts. They got a lot of people's hopes up. Thankfully I have found a job elsewhere but yeah go somewhere else where they actually respect the applicants.
