I worked at ALDI part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good Training, great responsibility given, good Management system, excellent pay, positive work environment and teamwork.
Employees family commitments and personal situations are taken into consideration by Management.
It is fast paced and can give you a great buzz of achievement.

    Cons

Call outs at night. It is very physical and you have to be quite fit. Weekend work and late hours as well as very early mornings.

    Advice to Management

The only thing that I missed was the opportunity to progress across departments.

I have been working at ALDI full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Super Salary, as manager you can work to your own Rota within reason. All time owed must be taken. 5 weeks holidays plus bank holidays

    Cons

Constant pressure to hit targets, multitasking on a huge scale and too much time being reactive instead of proactive. Managers spend too much time on tills and working deliveries instead of managing.

    Advice to Management

Not everything is black and white and just because it looks good on paper, reality is a different animal.

    Pros

Hard work, feels good after. Great teamwork and nice wages.

    Cons

Very physically demanding which can lead to injuries. Till work can be incredibly mind numbing. Work/Life balance can be poor but management in my experience are incredibly understanding for moving shifts about.

I worked at ALDI part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are no positives to working here as store assistant unless you consider severe stress and a guaranteed back problem.

    Cons

You are expected to do the work of two people non stop as the business plan of Aldi is get as much work out of individual "employees" in the shortest amount of time possible so the company saves money on wages and management (not the general assistants that are actually breaking their backs) get their performance bonuses.
They have the nerve to claim they pay the new "living wage" but conveniently gloss over the fact that they only offer 25 hour per week contracts and then seem to think that all their staff need to be on call at the whim of the company. The irony is its only a lowly supermarket and anybody that has an ounce of respect for themselves, their body and their well being should have nothing to do with these. Scanning 1000+ items per minute on the tills, Clearing pallets in no more than 20 mins, its just go go go go, must go faster must go faster.

    Advice to Management

    Yeah right.

I have been working at ALDI full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Life is stress free when working with well organised business people.

    Cons

Not rewarded good enough for long term and hard working employees

    Advice to Management

Do more to look after full time staff. Management have a stronger voice to make change for the employees. Only one benefitting is Aldi as a business.
