      Cashier/Store Associate Interview

      19 Jul 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

      I interviewed at ALDI

      Interview

Interview was very well organized, they asked you questions about the company, gave you a tour of the store, they also explained how the store was managed and operated by a small group of around 3-4 people per location so you would have to learn a lot of the departments around the store and learn to be flexible.

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ALDI in Aug 2015

      Interview

Went to a local hiring event. I dressed professional, that's what they look for in first impressions.Get there 30 minutes early so you can beat the line. I learned its better to be one of the first people there, because by the time they get to the middle/end of the line, they're really just on auto pilot trying to get through all the applicants. Take it easy on the resume and cover letters, they dont even look at them. Attach it to the back of your application if need be, but I would really just leave those for the actual interview. DM asked a couple of closed ended questions, and said they would be in contact within a week if they were interested. Almost two weeks later I received a call from the same DM for the 1st of 3 interviews. She only asked a few questions about past jobs, then went into detail about the job duties. Dont let them intimidate you on how much physical labor is involved, that is what they try to do. She told me that the last student she hired didnt even last a week. Regardless I told her I could handle it. The next day she called to set up a second interview with the store manager. That interview was much more laid back. SM was running behind at first and my interview was about 30 min late. She said she really liked my attitude and how patient I was. She asked me 1 or 2 questions but for the most part we just talked about job duties and what to expect working at aldi. I really liked her and we definitely clicked. Didnt even feel like an interview. 5 days after the second interview, the DM called me back to offer me the position pending a drug and background check. Honestly, after reading all the reviews online about the aldi hiring process, I was very discouraged going in. I went to multiple hiring events before I even got a call. But I learned what to improve on and I didn't take no for an answer.
