I applied online. I interviewed at ALDI (Basingstoke, England) in Jul 2018
Interview
Held in a coffee shop because the store is still being built so fairly relaxed. Interview only lasted about 20 minutes. Had to do a basic maths test, (why does my brain always freeze when faced with these things?). I was asked a couple of questions and was given the chance to ask my own, so asked how many would be likely to be working at any given time on the shop floor and what they're looking for in an employee. Lovely lady interviewing who really put me at ease.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why do you want to work for Aldi and what do you know about the store?
Management is condescending and not open to discussion to gain a better understanding of you as an individual. Felt very belittled and was an extremely unpleasant experience. Unlikely to be a positive workplace, based on this experience
I was invited to a group interview where we walked around the store and toured the backroom where products are loaded and stocked. This was followed by an individual interview with the store manager.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How do you approach team building and teamwork? How would you handle a difficult situation? How do you define customer service? Where do you see yourself in five years? Is the customer always right?
Started as a group where we were educated on the history and benefits about working at ALDI, and were asked what we think working at ALDI is like. Seemed like a good company with fair pay. The individual interview itself only asked availability.
