I applied online. I interviewed at AKUNA CAPITAL in Feb 2016
Interview
Pre-made online exams, a video recording interview, 1 phone interview. You have a week to complete each part before moving onto the next one. Be warned that the video recording interview was 75% mental math which is really aggravating. Phone screen came 4 days after video interview but due to scheduling conflict they could not accommodate me for the next stage of interviews.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Ton of mental math, why do you want to be a trader, a word problem
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at AKUNA CAPITAL (New York, NY) in Sept 2025
Interview
1st round: 80 quick mental math questions in 8 min + 30 sequences questions in 16 min; hard to say whether it is difficult
3rd round: market making game with "alphabet games"
OA with coding, followed by a one-way video interview with math, first round of standard algo question, final round with one math interview one coding interview. Overall pretty standard quant questions
In a negative interview scenario for a quantitative role at Akuna Capital, the atmosphere feels tense, with palpable pressure hanging in the air. As the interview progresses, the candidate struggles to articulate their responses, stumbling over technical questions that should be well within their domain. Their attempts to communicate their problem-solving strategies are marred by ambiguity and lack of clarity, failing to impress the interviewers with their analytical prowess. Overall, it's a disheartening experience marked by missed opportunities and a failure to showcase the candidate's true potential.
