      Interview

I applied for this job online, and after 12 hours Ace emailed me back and told me to come in the following day for a brief interview. After waiting over an hour in a room filled with dozens of applicants, the interview was 3 minutes long. The interviewer asked me about my availability and wanted to make sure that I could start ASAP and that was about it. I left the interview really confused, but later that day I was asked to come in the for the second round of interviews--a "coffee date" so I thought maybe this interview will reveal more information. false. After waiting over an hour again an interviewer sat with me over coffee where she explained what seemed like a pyramid scheme to me. I applied for the communications assistant position, and what she described to me had absolutely nothing to do with that position. The positions posted online are all a scam, as you all start off at the bottom of this pyramid regardless of what specific position you applied for. After the "coffee date" I returned back to the office and filled out a questionnaire. I was told to expect a phone call later that night to reveal if I had gotten the job or not. I left this interview extremely frustrated and confused. The whole thing seemed very sketchy. I did not take the job.

Person interviewing me spoke way too fast for me to understand him well, plus told me that it wasn't an agency (which it said on its website, which became way too sketchy for me to continue to the next round of interviews

      Interview

Please listen to all the other reviews on here, this is absolutely a scam. When I received the email inviting me to come in for an interview, it specified that the office was part of a co-working space and to be sure that I asked for Ace when I arrived. I have extensive experience with co-working spaces (specifically WeWork and The Yard) and this was clearly a front: only three companies shared this space and they all happened to be interviewing dozens of applicants at the exact same time. There were clearly attempts to make this space appear like more well-known co-working space chains, but all that resulted in was obnoxiously loud music being played through the whole office, a TV set up with a PlayStation, and another TV playing "Friends" on mute. It was sparsely furnished and incredibly cramped. When I introduced myself at the front desk, I was given an application sheet to fill out. This is when I realized that three different companies were operating the same way at the same time. When I glanced at other people's sheets (hard not to do in such close quarters) they were completely different from mine. Again, what are the odds that all three companies would be conducting similar interviews at the same time if they weren't related? A lot of the questions on the sheet were pretty standard, but the one that was a huge red flag was when they asked what I made at my previous job. It is illegal in New York City for prospective employers to ask about your salary history. A company that does not know this (or knows and chooses to ignore it) is not reputable and is not to be trusted. You do not have to tell them (I wrote on the sheet that it was illegal for them to ask; it was not commented on). I was finally called back in to the "interview" by a woman who spent the whole time explaining to me their business model in a very rushed way that was hard to follow. She attempted to draw it out on the back of my resume, but that seemed like it was supposed to help her more than it was supposed to help me. She asked me literally one question ("How are you with managing different personalities?") and gave me no opportunity to ask any of my own. I was out of there in about five minutes, maybe less. I received an email to come back in tomorrow for an "experiential day" but I declined and told them to take that salary question off their application sheet if they're at all interested in being in compliance with the law. This has pyramid/multi-level marketing scheme written all over it. I understand looking for a job can be stressful and people become desperate, but use the time you would be giving to this scam to pursue opportunities at reputable companies.
