The best part of working here was the people—truly amazing coworkers who were supportive, collaborative, and fun to work with. The company fostered an inclusive and welcoming environment, and the Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) were a real highlight. They provided meaningful opportunities for connection, professional development, and advocacy. The culture overall emphasized belonging and diversity in a way that felt authentic and employee-driven.

While the day-to-day team experience was very positive, the organization struggled with long-term stability. Frequent shifts in direction and inconsistent leadership decisions created uncertainty, which impacted morale and growth opportunities. Unfortunately, I did not have confidence in the CEO’s leadership style or strategic vision, which seemed to contribute to the instability.

Micromanagement is extreme — constant trackers, daily check-ins, and oversight that felt more like surveillance than support. Feedback is subjective and personal, focused on “tone” or personality rather than the quality of work. Improvement isn’t tied to clear expectations or measurable outcomes. Directors reinforce the same issues: framing feedback as developmental but ultimately centering on perception, not performance. PIPs (performance improvement plans) are overused and act as a tool to push people out rather than help them succeed. HR gives the appearance of being supportive, but in reality their role is to protect the company, not employees. The company’s messaging about diversity and inclusion does not reflect reality. Leadership lacks representation and equity is not built into day-to-day culture.

CEOs care nothing about employees and have made this very evident. All they care about is winning and money. They have lost the people principles they claim to care so much about. Leadership has no direction, there is no clear communication on anything everything is vague. Job descriptions are often not as advertised as far as duties once you have the position, There is not a lot of diversity in leadership. layoffs come out of nowhere despite being told there wouldn't be any. There is no room for advancement and it seems if you do manage to advance it's way more likely you will be laid off. Its a real shame because the company USED to be a cool place to work, now virtually no one is happy.

- Quintessential dull corporate job; if one could definite "nothing but a number" as a place it would be Wayfair - Extremely disorganized leadership with little vision & little experience outside of tenure at Wayfair; primitive management styles - Extremely unhealthy competitive environment; there is an "I" in every team at Wayfair - Senior leaders have 0% mentorship mentality; does not invest or value workers as long term team members but people who are hired to work for them to achiever their individual success within Wayfair - Not a great place for growth; promotions are done through networking instead actual skills required for the role - Lacks innovation; company branded "tech" but in reality an embellished drop ship distributor with inflated furniture prices - Not competitive with industry; extremely behind in vision, process and strategy (not many learning opportunities since the company solely focuses on growth and limits sharing information to higher levels only) - Networking and who likes you is very important at this company; don't depend heavily on your skills to get you far here.. you'll need to make sure you get buy in on your personality from those around - Not a huge place for diversity and very minimal DEI efforts over the years

-Great people below C-suite and above levels. The recruiters at Wayfair know how to select diverse talent and this shows at lower levels within the company, even at entry level.

-Consistent layoffs after quite literally sending mass company emails informing employees that another layoff won't happen again as the company is in a "good spot", only for another layoff to occur 6 months later. -Lack of job security due to a consistent push for offshoring to save cost, even at the expense of service levels. -A serious decline in culture, where the CEO found it a good idea to send an email to the company between 2-3am to tell everyone they need to work harder and put in more hours. No remorse shown by the guy after the backlash either, which shows a serious lack of emotional intelligence at the highest level of the company. -A serious decline in psychological safety due to a lack of taking ownership of mistakes, punishing feedback that used to be widely welcomed, and moving from an inclusive environment that allowed ideas from all levels to be considered instead to an environment where a strict chain of command weighs heavier and taking risks is no longer rewarded. -More work for each employee due to the massive amount of layoffs over the past two years, notably without any pay increases. -The company does not uphold their own values such as placing employees first to ensure excellent customer service. When starting at Wayfair, happy employees made happy customers. Now, only the money matters, even if it means cutting an amazingly dedicated workforce. -Median paygrades with the company, going as far to internally state they aim for median pay instead of shooting for more competitive salaries like they mention when hiring/recruiting. -Overall a lot of disappointment in the lack of promises kept, creating a genuine negative view on how the company is run in addition to the decline of mutual trust.
