Jack has been with schuh for two years and completed his Level 2 Apprenticeship programme within the last year. Jack’s unwavering commitment and hard work over the past year, alongside the support of his management team, has seen him not only progress through his apprenticeship programme but also a promotion to a Management Trainee position within the store. Amazing – well done Jack! “From the moment I started at schuh I knew it was more than just a part time job. The atmosphere in store was just amazing. After I had been at Schuh for around 3 months as a part-time sales adviser, that's when I realised I just wanted to learn more and carry on extending my knowledge. I then started the apprenticeship which lasted just over a year. The support from everyone was amazing! During my apprenticeship, I was promoted to supervisor where I could develop my knowledge even more, especially around the management side of things. Now fast forward to where we are now, just finished my end of point assessment and have been promoted to trainee manager. I would recommend the apprenticeship to anyone looking to step up their career in retail and take it to a new level!”

To celebrate Disability History Month, we caught up with schuh model, Georgia Stannard. Georgia has had a prosthetic leg for four years and has been modelling for over two of those years. She loves exploring her personal style, music, and any creative medium. She mostly loves to write, and one day hopes to explore that further. Georgia comments, “I feel lucky enough I am both witnessing and experiencing the bridge of inclusivity widening amongst the industry.”
Meet Gemma Adby, model and disability equality advocate, who is celebrating Disability History Month with us. Gemma started her modelling journey around 4 years ago to raise awareness and advocate change. She was born with a missing left forearm and by becoming a model, she has worked with some amazing brands who advocate for more representation in the industry. Gemma observes, “I feel like I'm still a big step away from where I need to be but I love the journey I've been on and I can't wait to see where it takes me next!”
We’ve partnered with Shape Arts, our disability equality charity partner, to create our latest charity tote bag designed by Grace Fairley. All profits from the sales of these tote bags are donated back to Shape Arts. Award winning illustrator and animator, Grace Fairley was nominated to create this design, inspired by the theme "re-thinking disability". Grace’s work has a special focus on disability, mental health, and womanhood and she believes that big messages can be communicated in simple ways.
