Web Summit stands at the forefront of the world’s latest developments and discoveries, and, in 2020, we launched our sustainability strategy. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are at the core of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and we are proud to commit to these SDGs as guiding principles for our own sustainability initiatives.
This week in WebSummit, all employees will attend our Disrupting tech : Anti - Racism and equity training. This will be run by Ty Smith, a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice specialist. Ty has worked with social service agencies, health organisations and educational institutions all over Canada to identify barriers to equitable inclusion and implement changes effectively.
Our amazing L&D team will be rolling out 'Tech month' in March. This will be a focused month of workshops and trainings, to improve skills and give all areas of the business the opportunity to improve their knowledge. Our talented team will cover topics such as Data Science, Web Analytics, Google sheets masterclasses, and introductions to the numerous internal tooling we use to power our events. All classes will be open to the entire company! Happy learning:)

As we head towards Christmas and the holidays, we are very excited to share details about our CSR day on Friday, December 10. Our chosen charity for this year is EndoIreland. EndoIreland is a charity organisation dedicated to providing information and support for women with endometriosis. This is a condition that affects 10 percent of women in Ireland. That alone makes it a cause worthy of our support – but it’s more personal to us at Web Summit as our colleague, Sarah Jane, is a long-term sufferer of endometriosis and is a passionate supporter of the EndoIreland cause. On Friday, December 10, we plan on running a series of fundraising events in support of EndoIreland.
A really lovely clip from Kate Swanborg at DreamWorks Animation, speaking on Centre Stage, WebSummit 21
Very happy to share that the team in WebSummit raised €40,000 in December for our "Act for Andy" charity drive. All proceeds went to our friends in St. Lukes Hospital who looked after Andy Kenny so well. The money raised will go towards essential IT hardware.
We recently developed a more in-depth page describing the work of WebSummit engineering. Check it out!
