Pros

There is finally a game launched in Korea, so at least the team that has dedicated their lives to getting the product launched has something to show for it. The people at nWay (Art, Design, Engineering, Production, Marketing, Biz Dev and QA) who work directly on the development of the game are some of the most talented and dedicated individuals I've worked with. The Engineering and QA teams are some of the hardest working people in the gaming industry.

Cons

This is not a review from a former disgruntled employee, it is a transparent review of what it is actually like to work here. I wish I had honest reviews to read before I accepted a position here. The founder don't genuinely care about creating a culture that embodies honest and transparent communication, gratitude and appreciation, empowering people to make fearless decisions so they can have ownership in their jobs. If you want a company that lives by "doing the right thing" across the board, this is NOT the place for you. Core values are created as a tool to justify strategic and political moves within the company, and therefore there is no to little buy in from anyone. There is a lot of talk about becoming a company with a world class culture, but no showing on their part. If your core values ARE in line with those listed on the job listing for nWay, this is NOT that place for you. If you want to feel fairly treated, this is NOT the place for you. If you are non-Korean, not willing to work 24/7 or strong female, you will not fit in here. You will be called a "conspiracy theorist" or have your job changed on a whim without any communication or justification. Current company culture is extremely toxic and I don't see that changing anytime soon. If you are someone who likes to have ownership over your work, cherishes work-life balance and the ability to unplug, wants to feel appreciated for the work you do, needs honest and transparent internal communication, likes proactive vs reactive decision making, or desires a positive working environment, this is NOT the place for you.

Pros

Team is very passionate about the product and willing to work like crazy just to get the game launched.

Cons

1. Management team doesn't respect employees and they don't even want to listen to different voices 2. The company doesn't recognize people's values. When people gave notice for quitting, they don't even bother asking why 3. The org structure is extremely weird,no R&R at all. 4. No reward for hard working people (except for few), no penalty if bad things happen (this could be pro?) 5. Management team treats people like working machine and is proud of people working over 12 hrs a day without having weekends 6. Hiring seems like solution to everything in management team's eyes 7. Unfair treatment for different people, depending on how close you are to the CEO 8. Poor benefit/PTO, doesn't encourage WFH 9. Once a time work life balance was encouraged, but turned out to be no support from upper level 10. Transparency is a joke etc...

Pros

- Potential of game ChronoBlade could do well (if actually launches) - People are passionate about the work they do

Cons

All cons listed below are a direct reflections of the executive leadership since the person handles "People Operations/HR" is trying to fix things, but doesn't have authority to make changes. Gift cards and stuff are nice, but it doesn't cut it to keep people happy long term. - "Company Culture" is based on what the co-founders want it to be, but not want the culture actually is. - No work life-balance if you are someone who like to have work and life separate (as I am). For those that set boundaries for work-life and leave office at normals hours, they are resented by others on the team. True culture there is not feeling like it is ok to leave. - In reality moral is low-- people don't feel appreciated for how much work they put in, don't feel communicated honestly with my founding team. - If you are not Korean, then you are not as valued. There is a clear divide between Koreans and non-Koreans that creates bad team collaboration and affect company culture. - Even though everyone in the office can speak English, and should be speaking English in the US office, many of the Koreans choose to speak Korean as a way to exclude those who don't speak the language. It is very offensive and rude, has been brought up multiple times by many people, but doesn't seem to change since the CEO does the same thing. - Launch dates have been moved more times than I can count. - Communication by founders is horrible. There is NO transparency even though it is supposed to be one of the core values. They tell everyone what they want to hear to avoid conflict rather than being transparent all around. - Nobody on the management team is empowered to do their jobs and make actionable decisions without it being bottle necked at the co-founders. - Benefits/ perks are horrible and don't even compare to competitors. PTO is almost non-existent. - Policies are very old school and corporate-- discourage WFH, strict PTO, etc. - For as much as you will be expected to give to the company, don't expect that they'll give that back. It is a take take.
