Thanks for the detailed review. We hope you are feeling better now.
I would like to thank you for finding "a few employees" as really good in the company. I hope you had at least a positive experience because of the association with those employees.
No work/life balance. [Work/Life balance is your personal issue. There are people in the company who have completed the work on time per the expected work quality and enjoy their life by managing their work properly by being productive and efficient. A few traits of people who balance their work/life are the ones who do not use their phones during working hours, do not manipulate working hours, are punctual, and being least interested in gossip].
No appreciation for any positive contribution or extra efforts. [Whosoever is leading the team in the company is the one who positively contributed to our making. Sometimes, the way you want appreciation is not the only way to appreciate. Sometimes, we promote someone to volunteer, sometimes the mentor continuously promotes and highlights you to the management, sometimes the management trusts you unconditionally for the next level of training, sometimes you got more attention than others, sometimes you get more than others, sometimes management go way beyond their usual PayScale standards, but sometimes you stop appreciating everything and set your own parameters of satisfaction. When those are unmet, you go berserk because you made yourself bigger than work and think everything revolves around you. In this situation, it's natural to think that the efforts or extra hours are not recognized. BTW, several people thanked us for appreciating their efforts, and they are highly motivated]
No management to listen problems related to employees. [What if those problems are created for the sake of it, and if this is the case, then definitely we are helpless.]
Every month new policies are introduced for harassment of employees. [In the last one year, let alone month, these are the only policies that were introduced: “POSH” (Prevention of Sexual Harassment, a must have), Basic Email etiquettes (a must have), One Folder & Clean Desktop (to ensure you organize your data in an organized manner, a must have), and Work from Home Guidelines (for standardizing the mode of work and harmony in the team, before it was left to individual interpretation, a must have). The problem is when there are no policies, one gets freedom to misuse everything and he/she care less about how it’s harming the harmony of the organization, but when we introduce some basic policies for the betterment of the organization, one feels offended as if those policies are for that specific one only.]
Need to complete a fixed amount of hours keeping your laptop active everyday no matters what. [once upon a time, there was an employee, who kept on clicking on the same page for 2-3 hours, kept on adding hours for discussion while she was actually missing from the seat without notifying the manager/hr that he/she has done her work for the day. He/she kept using this strategy for long even when he/she knows that he/she has work left to be done but kept killing the time. If you complete your work in lesser than what you allocated, you let your manager know and get a new task, it’s that simple. If there is no work whatsoever, who ask you to spend hour for being idle?]
6 to 8 projects are assigned to a person in a month. This means 6 to 8 deadlines and you need to submit reports on the same day of deadline every time. Forget any free time. [Well, you should appreciative of it because you are speaking so much only because of the work experience gained here by doing those projects (definitely not 6-8 projects per month). Though, I hardly remember you or anyone being so efficient here. The last project in the Landscape that was expected to be completed in 45 days took us over 60-70 days, without any resistance on timeline because project demanded it. Last Invalidation search that was suppose to be delivered in 6 business days took 8 business days. I believe you have been counting more days in a month than 22 working days, and we hardly remember anyone WORKING on 6-8 projects in a month. God help you with your Maths unless you are manipulating.
Advice to Management
Take initiative for training of employees to acquire new skills so as to improve their efficiency (not by make them sit for long hours). Appreciation is driving force for some people. Start appreciating your employees for positive contribution and extra efforts they make at least once in a year. One person cannot manage everything in long run. Also provide some good devices and a good technical support. [well taken, and disapprove them all.]
Get a life and try being a mature being!!
