Thank you, Former Anonymous Employee, for sharing your opinion. We take seriously our commitment to respecting the integrity of individuals and their opinions and are always willing, at any time, to engage in a discussion that can make our company better for the employees, customers, and suppliers in which we serve.
I am choosing to personally address the commentary made in your post, eluding to racial, religious, and gender-based motivations. I am not minimizing the right to your personal feelings or opinions. However, inflammatory statements such as these can be damaging to the integrity and credibility of our company, and are hurtful to our diverse and talented team members employed here.
As a company, we care about and try to invest in every member of our team as we believe business has a responsibility to serve individuals, families, and communities as much as possible in the way it conducts itself. We encourage one another to be engaged in life in general and also engaged in caring for one another. As a company, we are values-based, not religious-based (I actually have more questions than answers in this area myself) and we are very much promoters of being a great friend, being a great parent, being a great spouse, and being a great boss or employee: Full of honor, integrity, and loyalty. It seems we each want to live a life of significance and legacy, and my hope is that we find a way to focus on the meaningful things here at our company for our employees – not just freight and dollars.
Before I responded, I inquired of our HR department statistics about some of the other statements you made and here is what I found. In this male-dominated transportation industry, the 41% women and 59% men employed here are of many different ages, ethnicities, talents, interests, citizenship, religious (and non-religious) beliefs, and experiences. Our leadership roles are populated in a similar fashion, and the health and benefits programs we offer are statistically ranked in the top 5% of businesses in the KC Metro area according to a third party review. I also look at our 95%+ employee retention rate and continual growth as benchmarks of how we are doing in meeting the needs and desires of our employees and customers.
I truly wish we could have addressed your concerns together, while you were an employee of eShipping, as it’s rare to see or hear these types of comments. However, if you would like to discuss further, please know my door is always open and I would welcome the discussion to better understand and improve.
